Why Visit Castelladefels Spain

Castelldefels is a cute little town 20 kilometers from Barcelona and just 10 minutes from the airport.  It’s a little bit quieter than the hustle and bustle of the City.

Top Reasons to Visit

  1.  Beautiful sandy beaches that are 5 kilometers long
  2. Culture, History, and Tradition (Castles and Watchtowers)
  3. Natural Park (Garraf) for mountain and nature lovers
  4. Small town for family relaxation
  5. Festivals
  6. Sports (multiple water sports, including the Olympic Channel)
  7. Fantastic Food (Quality and diversity)
  8. Great Hotels/Accommodations
  9. University City
  10. A great place to go shopping (Large shopping center open 365 days a year)

Transportation

By train would be around 35 minutes and cost approx. €2 to €4
By bus would take approx. 1 hour and cost also around €2 to €4
By taxi, it would cost approx. €25 to €35, but you can download an app called mytaxi and this would cost around €15 and takes approx 20 minutes to get there.
To drive by car, would also take approx 20 minutes and costs also around €2 to €4

We were going to a party on Friday night, so we took a late flight on Thursday night.  We should have landed at 11:00 pm, but our flight was delayed twice.  Once we landed we had to wait another 30 minutes before a bus was available to take us to the terminal.  This wouldn’t have been a problem if the airplane crew has informed us, but no, we all stood to wait to get out of the plane.  We arranged for a taxi to take us to the hotel since it was pretty late at night.  We didn’t have to check out until 12:00, so we took the opportunity to wander around and check out the beach and Olympic Channel.  This was where the Olympics were in 1992, so it was cool to see this part of history.

The Rocket Burger

After a tasty lunch, we walked to the Gran Hotel Don Jamie, this was one of the most beautiful hotels with the most amazing swimming pool with a watch tower and bridge overlooking the city.

When visiting the beach, you need to visit the Jellyfish Beach club.  The staff is very friendly and this is a great location for parties and festivals.  You can swim at the beach, take a walk along the promenade and have drinks and food here. Don’t forget to try the traditional Paella.

Castelldefels is a beautiful seaside town situated just outside of Barcelona.  The town has a nice relaxed atmosphere and has shops, bars, and restaurants. The beach has many water sports activities you can partake in or you can visit the ancient castle and 16th-century medieval watch towers. Castelldefels has a typical Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers, during the spring and autumn the region can receive quite a bit of rain and some spectacular storms.

That pool is amazing! 😀 We’re actually headed to Spain in August and haven’t solidified our itinerary yet, so I’m very tempted to put Castelldefels on our list and stop there for a few days. A seaside town is exactly what we need right now. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
